I am flying into Orlando on Tuesday night and coming up with Tracy, who is driving, on Wednesday. From Savannah airport, it’s $45 to $55 for taxi service. There is also lift and Uber for a bit cheaper. There is no public transport on Tybee and there are meters. Bring those quarters! We will need them for for LCR and for parking — we can also use them for drinking games, if you like. Since we are less than a block from the beach, we most likely not have to worry about the following quote from parking on Tybee - “Parking: There is no free public parking on Tybee Island. Use a city or private parking lot, or find an on-street spot with a pay-and-display station or meter nearby. Enforcement of parking regulations is strict across the island. Tickets ($20) are frequently issued for short over-stays. Parking costs $2 per hour over most of the island, with some on-street parking spaces towards its northern end available for $1.50 per hour. Most parking spaces use coin- or card-operated pay-and-display stations (minimum charge of $4 for cards).” More info is at this link - Savannah/Tybee Island

I hear you on the cheaper flight on Tuesdays. I am finding that as well re: my trip to Albany for a wedding in August! I can definitely do airport pick ups. That is not a problem at all. Jacksonville airport is also an option if that is cheaper. Again -- I can help with pick ups. Orlando is ok too as long as you fly in Tuesday night (staying at my place) or possibly super early on Wednesday so I can swing by the airport and hop on the beachline towards I-95. I kind of would like to be at the Tybee Island property around check in time so people can access the house. If I can get the door code prior, then that won't be an issue. I believe most of the properties we looked at have parking on property so the meters may be a moot point (will have to ask). I will say that we might need quarters for parking in Savannah perhaps? and LCR

Will fly in on Tuesday and probably leave Monday. Depending on which airport I come in, may rent a car.

My current plan is to leave home on Wednesday the 12th via Toronto and arrive in Savannah at 2:41 PM that afternoon. As Sunday flights aren't as accommodating, I would choose to leave on Monday the 17th departing Savannah at 3:15 PM. I certainly wish the exchange rate was better but gone are the happy travelling days of Canadian at par I suppose.
Hitching a ride from SAV to Tybee would b excellent. I might have considered renting a car but, this is likely a singular incident. A Canadian was recently arrested and jailed by a Georgia state police officer for driving with a Canadian licence. The officer claimed that her licence was not legal in Georgia. What's up with that? Bit of a diplomatic incident resulted.

Yay! Actual dates for the calendar. I don't know where I'll fly yet, but probably Savannah. Is it time to send money yet?
ETA: I'm flying in to Raleigh/Durham and riding down with Pamski in her Mustang convertible!

Jan -- if it's cheaper to fly in/out of Orlando or Jax let me know. I plan/hope on leaving Orlando first thing on Wednesday morning.

Are we good for the dates to book? I feel like this is still not definite...should we do a down payment on the house or something?

I was kind of waiting until after the holiday because I figured people would be focused on other things. But now that we're a little over three months out, I guess we do need to get some solid plans down.
I believe we have the 9/12-17 dates decided on as that was the week that most folks can attend. Correct?
Since we have 11 definite and lots of maybes, it comes down to -- do we book the house now based (a) on the definites plus a few maybes that could end up attending or (b) do we book based on the potential final tally? I can start contacting property managers but I want to be sure of our game plan.
Thoughts folks?

I was thinking, book on our definites now, and then if the maybes can come, we can adjust. Most of the houses seem to have more than enough space.
