Okay, what really happened was a professor used Pride & Prejudice to illustrate a point in a scientific paper, but it just goes to prove The Power of Jane!

Also sounds like an episode out of the original Star Trek series. Specifically, THE APPLE.

I was gonna say--where does anyone smooch in Jane Austen?!? Though: some say the bolded bit in this passage from Darcy's second, successful proposal in P&P: ...means he grabbed her and laid one on her. I like this idea because it's so out-of-character for Darcy that it really shows his happiness and love for Elizabeth. However, it's pretty unlikely. There is also this passage in MP, when Fanny Price is leaving for Portsmouth: That certainly means that he kissed her. Who knew Edmund Bertram was such a dog?

I've been away so not had chance to put this on. Its a trailer raising money for a new Jane Austen Docu-drama called Overcoming Pride and Prejudice, if you speed through the trailer to 4.30min you will see in the background in the glasses and curly hair, me!

I'd embed it here, but I believe that absorbs an awful lot of bandwith. Try this. I hope it works this time; it's pretty dang funny.
