Le Place d'Armes Le Square Phillips Le Petit Hotel These are all in Montreal. Make sure you put in Quebec City, not just Quebec (that is the province, which also contains Montreal). Sorry, I didn't even look at the hotels........these are in good areas in Montreal......I can recommend a few others too.....
When searching for Quebec City hotels, make sure you enter the Old Quarter......anything else is out in the suburbs......

Also, a side trip to Montreal is a smashing idea. It's a great city. Definitely check out Old Montreal! It's so beautiful to walk around there. A great hotel in Old Montreal is St Sulpice, which is right behind Notre Dame Cathedral and is an all suite hotel.....
Should mention to anyone flying to Montreal and either staying there or taking the train to QC, there is no train between PE Trudeau Airport and Downtown Montreal....however, there is an Express bus service which stops outside Central Station and some of the major Downtown hotels.......

*smacks forehead* The hotels do say Montreal, not Quebec City. I am an idiot. Good to know for future research.
I just poked around and found that Air Canada does have specials on travel for Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Right now their promotion only stretches to June 28 though. But if they extend the travel dates to Fall, I could get my flight to Montreal for $82 and return for $121. Quebec would be about $105 up and $259 back. It would be worth checking periodically for those specials.
Hockey would be fun.
I would love to do the Montmorency Falls.

The airport code for Quebec City is YQB, in case anyone is interested. Montreal is YUL.

I'm up for any city. Sounds like Savannah is off the table for this year. Just hope us Americans don't have any problems getting back into the US once we leave!!

The Funicular was mentioned earlier. Here is its official website: www.funiculaire-quebec.com/en/Accueil.htmIt is one of the more efficient ways of going from Lower Town to Upper Town and costs $2.50 a ride.

Niagara Falls has (or used to have) something similar to get up the ridge. Well worth it if your legs are tired!
I am good (right now) on any dates in September and October. For me – as soon as we get the dates nailed down I have to put in for it because getting my desk covered for vacation is proving to be more difficult. The sooner I get on the schedule, the better.

Liz, I saw Porter Airlines on the list. Are they more like Jet Blue and Frontier airlines aka budget airlines and cheap or more like United and Air Canada aka regular and moderate priced. Also, like Bucky, as soon as we know the date, I can put in at work and be assured my vacation spot. :-)

They are a small niche airline that flies turbo prop aircraft and tends to go into smaller airports, like Newark, instead of New York, and in Toronto, they use the Island Airport instead of Pearson International......it caters to business travellers and its amenities are quite good......if you are doing comparisons, it is worth having a look at, because it certainly competes with AC and WestJet.........

I know this may be a bit of a pain, but, I talked to my boss about this year's trip and she said the sooner I know when it is, the sooner I can claim the spot. We used to have 8 cashiers among like 8 or so others working at the store and now we have 8 people period. So, only one person can be off at once. I know Tracy is more or less in the same boat.
Soooo ---- we should take votes September 13-18 (have gathering dates 14-17) or September 20-25 (21-24) or September 27- October 2
I vote for September 13-18 or September 20-25. 😄

Right now any of those dates can work, but yeah -- the sooner the dates are established the better.
If I had a choice, I would prefer the latter for a better chance of Fall colors, but whenever is the most convenient for all as we want a good turnout!
So are we established that Quebec City is our destination for this year?
