Wasn't sure if this should go here or on RA's Bilge thread, but here you go. Mags, SSR, and I have been having fun bantering on the Book of Face about this publicity still. Discuss among yourselves; we were just kinda pervy.

Heh heh... am liking the chiaroscuro effect and the textures and the keen profile - in fact, to be honest, what's NOT to like?! - but am feeling a bit Star Trek about it all. 'It's a Dwarf, Jim, but not as we know it.' Either they go off very fast with the advancing years, or the uber-homely Gimli was the exception to the rule. I understand completely why the film-makers did it, but some of them (Kili and Fili, anyone?) are just too darn pretty! They're compromising their essential dwarfishness. Not that I'm complaining, exactly... <snerk>

I offered to keep The King Under the Mountain company while they did in-depth examination of his clothes and sword.

SSR and I discussed this previously on the BoF (we tend to have deep philosophical discussions about hot guys there). We agreed that the Heirs of Durin have improbably great genetics. I posted that it is said among the fangirls that Dis (Kili and Fili's mom and Thorin's sister) got her freak on with an Elf. SSR suggested perhaps it was a Gondorian soldier or Rider of Rohan with beer goggles. Either works. As Dis was Thorin's sister, she was probably also rather better-looking than average. But then how to explain Dis and Thorin? Perhaps THEIR mamma was the one getting her groove back with an Elf/Gondorian/Rider? Looking at Thrain, one has to wonder. In any event, what happens in Erebor stays in Erebor. P.S. Thorin isn't short, he's fun-sized! Yeah, Mags and SSR were on about the workmanship that went into the costumes and props. I offered to keep The King Under the Mountain company while they did in-depth examination of his clothes and sword. We would be inspecting them while he was IN them. Not the same, otherwise.

That could be an effective advertising theme, which I'll leave for my cleverer shipmates to reify. {gasp} Oh how we need that exploding smiley. HMSCody
