I think we talked about this before we moved to ProBoards, but there is new information: I hit Denny's this morning for breakfast on the last leg of a week of traveling. They were pushing The Hobbit connection pretty hard, so I gave it a try. Sadly, Thorin Oakenshield, Served Golden Brown with Syrup was not on the menu. What I ended up with was toad-in-the-hole and hash browns, no matter what they what they called it. There was also something called Radagast's Red Velvet Pancake Puppies, which sound heinous in every aspect. I didn't even ask for an explanation. So yeah, it isn't much, but it's something to pass the time until Dec 13.

Radagast's WHAT? That just sounds so... wrong. They missed a trick there - they could have had hickory-Smauged ribs, toasted Smaugmallows, the Desolation of Smaugasbord - or flame-grilled burglars?

I would take the Red Velvet Pancake Puppies. Me and my nieces LOVE Red Velvet Cake.

Ah yes, I tried this out last time they had the "Hobbit" tie-in! Calories and cholesterol abounding! ~Phizz P.S. Got some neat trading cards, though.

Sadly, Thorin Oakenshield, Served Golden Brown with Syrup was not on the menu. Then what's the bally point? Sheesh.

Last year they had something like Shire French Toast (or was it Bag End French Toast?) that was not bad. It was lemon poppyseed quick bread, dipped and then fried. You didn't need butter or syrup, although it was served with both alongside. One would not want to make this a dietary staple, but once a year wouldn't be too bad as a treat. My husband had some kind of dwarfish sausage extravaganza that he said was all right.
{Insert wildly laughing smiley here} Definitely.
Did they have the themed drinks this year, too? I recall a flavor for each dwarf, or something like. None of the drinks sounded appetizing, but the advertising was fun to look at. And the trading cards were pretty cool.
If we get to a Dennys we'll take one for the team and order something Hobbit-ish and take a picture for the record. The closest Dennys to us is at least a three hour drive away.

What? Again? Lol so hard someone just asked me if I'm okay twice. I cannot leave you people alone for 10 minutes and you are talking about dwarvish sausages!
Hey, here's a buzzkill. My son told me the dwarves look like piñatas. Kids these days.

Just out of curiosity, I looked at the Denny's website, and here's what I found. Note the hamburger. Hobbit MenuHMSCody

Report from the field (insert salute here): My husband and I again took one for the ship and chose a few items from the Hobbit menu at Denny's for breakfast last week while traveling.
The "hearty sausage" is actually pretty good. It had lots of black pepper in it and was pretty tasty. If they kept that on their menu year-round, it's something Mr Cody and I would choose to go with our breakfast whenever we found ourselves near a Denny's.
The "Honey Cake French Toast" was two slices of a nice vanilla pound cake, dipped and fried, then drizzled with honey. Again, while I wouldn't eat this very often, it was pretty good and is something I'd make at home if I had pound cake that needed to be used up. Like that ever would happen. But it was nice to see something dedicated to Beorn on a menu.
We stuck to the muggle menu for everything else. What we did have was so filling that we weren't hungry until supper time, some eight hours later.
No nifty trading cards this time. Darn! I skipped taking photos, as what we received looked just like the pictures in the menu.
