Hi All:
Just a reminder that it was 15 years ago this month (on Sunday, April 4, 1999) that some of us first met our wonderful Horatio via A&E.
Time for a Celebration!!
Yours Aye,
Diane

Can't believe it has been that long! I knew after watching the first 5 minutes that this was a special series and ran to get a tape to record it.

Unbelievable! I didn't think I would stay with this fandom for more than a couple of years & I am still going strong. In the past 15 years, things have changed, but one thing remains the same, we are ALL kindred spirits brought together by the love of history, this mini series & our friendship. Hugs all around!
I was just thinking about my first thoughts of the series the other day. The commercials made me want to watch that handsome man (Ioan) & the show literally changed my life! I was also thinking about who I would have really followed if Sam West was in more than one episode. Would I have chosen him over Jamie Bamber's Archie? Who knows what changes would have been?
Happy 15th birthday! Next year our fandom can get its driver's license. ;-)

How far we have come as fans, yet how far we have still to travel. (Or something, I can't remember the exact line, but I know one or more of you will!)
*toasts*
To Hornblower, Kennedy, Bush and all the glorious crew of the bloody Indy and the good ship Horatians!

I second everyone's sentiments, saluting the series and the founders of the Horatians for providing us with a small but cozy harbour of our own.
*toasts*
To the next 15 and that the careers of all Horatian actors may prosper (again)! Long live the Horatians and Confusion to Robespierre!

This is one of those moments when we're all missing that bank of great smileys we used to have!
Since it's Wednesday, I propose the traditional toast: to ourselves.
What a great crew. I'm honored to be a part of your august company.

I'm thinking that this is a good time to mention when we first saw Hornblower and when we first came aboard.
I first saw HH when it aired in April 1999. I was curious because of the advertisements A&E ran. I started posting shortly after the airing of THE DUCHESS AND THE DEVIL. I also checked out the other info links A&E had on the history of the era and a couple of multiple choice games they ran.
Yours Aye,
Diane

I am afraid I met the good ship HH fandom later, as the three series aired together in 2003 in Italy. But boy, I was hooked quickly! And so many things have changed. I was thirteen then, just finishing middle school, and I am now (sigh!) nearly 24, with a degree and working towards a master. But the love of Hornblower remains... Lydia
