The commemorations have been extensively blogged, tweeted and Instagrammed from every conceivable angle. That said, I have a favorite story from the past few days: D-Day Veteran Goes Missing From Nursing HomeNote, everyone, that he's a Navy Man. Insert "heart" emoticon here. Yesterday as I drove through our neighborhood, which is full of young families as well as WWII veterans, I thought about the peaceful world where I live and how grateful I am that it's that way now, at least for me. I love that story too.
Thanks to all those - men and a few women - who made D-Day happen, some of whom made terrible sacrifices for freedom. You gave us our future. We owe you.
