So, I always pack a week or more BEFORE I go on a vacation. I always want to make sure if everything I want to bring fits and what new stuff I have to bring. In this process, I usually put things in and take things out before the final get up and go on the actual trip.
We have been doing this for 15 years now -- CAN YOU BELIEVE IT? -- so, I basically know what to bring. Since we are going to the beach, I am packing beach stuff (blanket, beach bag, beach shoes, two bathing suits and two beach towels). I didn't pack a beach bag when I went to Hawaii and ended up buying one, so to say the money, I am packing the one I use. THIS means I am literally overpacked before this shopaholic goes on vacation. Which brings me to this question ---
Are we going anywhere REALLY nice that you can't wear jeans and sneakers to? It would save room not to pack nice shoes and a nice outfit.
When we went to Key West, most of the people liked to just hang out at the pool and I don't expect this place to be any different. What about you? Are you bringing nice clothes and shoes? Are you bringing some beach stuff?
Can't wait to see you all!

I am not bringing any dressy clothes or shoes, just shorts and t-shirts. Good walking shoes and a light jacket. And for the pool/beach a swimsuit and some sandals.
I try to fit everything in a carry on with room for whatever I pick up during the vacation. Like you say, we pretty much have it down by now.
There is a huge outlet mall by work, so when the traffic is really bad, I just do a little shopping. I've gotten most of what I need for the trip already.

I was just wondering about the need for dressy clothes myself. I'll just be bringing one swimsuit because you cannot buy swimsuits in this town after May. It's the weirdest dang thing. I have quite a selection of stripey shirts to choose from, though.

As of now, nothing we're going to is fancy. I'm finalizing everything this weekend. I'm selecting our restaurant for the welcome meal. There was one restaurant I was considering that's a little nicer but I think if you had jeans with a nice blouse that would be ok. Sneakers would be ok. Last time I was there it was a mix. The restaurant is in the historic district so people are seeing sights all day then go in for dinner without changing. Even if we don't go there together, you might want to go on your own.
It's a tourist town and most places expect people to be casual. And its still very warm here in Florida. Try to stay with cotton clothes.
I'm also finalizing goodie bags item and picking up/ordering this week. I was pondering throwing in a beach towel. Undecided at the moment. The Walmart also had what looked like beach bags on clearance. There's a CVS very close by so I'm sure they will have some of those items if you don't want to pack them. I'm also going to check with the hotel to ask where the closest Walmart or Target is. So if anyone wants to make a run, we can go.
I will try to email the welcome meal options by the end of this week so you can make your selections.

I looked up the nearest CVS (because I wanted to get my employee discount) and it is about a five minute trip from the hotel. Our beach towels are selling for $3.75 on sale, but Florida is always hot, they wouldn't have a summer clearance, would they?
So I am keeping the nice shirts, but not packing the nice shoes. :-)

I'll have to check out the Walmart address. I'm sure I'll need a few things from there. The CVS is a very quick drive, though not walkable. I should check the CVS near me for summer sale stuff. Eventually summer stuff does go on sale here. Especially as the store location get further away from the beach.
I found some nice beach towels at Walmart but they are a little more expensive. They have a nice thickness. Working out the final goodie bag items. Will let you know if it ends up in so you don't have to bring one.
I went ahead and picked up some beach bags/totes from Walmart to use as our goodie bags. They're not fancy, but they should do the trick for a few days. And since you only have to walk across the street to get to the beach they'll be ok.
Now that I think about it, when I went into the restaurant I was very casual. Pants, t shirt , sneakers. I'd been out most of the day scouting the area and I went in for some lunch or dinner. I can't remember which. I'm sure I wasn't a pretty sight after running around in the heat all day.
And Sandra, I'm pretty sure there's at least one swimsuit shop on the same street as the hotel if not more. So if you want to do a little shopping you can.

Jamers, I have two words for you: space bags!! Especially the one that you just roll up to expel the air! They've been with me every trip since the dinner on the Grand Turk!
Capt. I have an item for the goodie bags that I'll be bringing with me, but I need to know how many goodie bags there will be. Thanks!!

Will do, Ensign!
Meanwhile, strategizing how to pack a ginormous hat (after-con wedding wear). It won't fit in the overhead compartment, so I bought a hard-shell suitcase just to accommodate it and bits. Of course, Nigel goes around shaking his head, rolling his eyes, providing helpful comments: "You're going to wear that thing?" "Should we buy another seat?"

Tell him the alternative is a shopping spree in England. That oughta settle his hash!
