Shipmates, as it turns out there has been some talk of a second Master and Commander movie.
This morning The Navy Doctor over at the HMS Acasta blog put up a call for a letter-write to urge the studio to make the film. However, the individual who used to be the point person on the project has changed. It used to be Tom Rothman, but now they don't know who it is.
edited to add: I think the "new" person to contact might be Jim Gianopulos, but if someone else knows better, by all means chime in!
Here is the link to the Acasta page under discussion. HMS Acasta
I know that this august body of Horatians usually possesses the knowledge as to Whom Is Whom when it comes to this sort of thing. If you do, would you be so kind as to send The Doctor a note with that information? Or put it in this thread, and I'll pass it along.
And if you are inclined to write/tweet/Instagram a letter of your own, you will add to the chorus of "Whatever happened to Captain Pullings?".

Eleven years on... It's about time! I know Russell Crowe has wanted to do a sequel since forever... SF

Hmm...I don't think you should get your hopes up. Lots of projects are talked about, few are completed.

That's true, and this may be a mere rumor. But dreaming is free, and emails only take a little time to compose.
But if a second movie does happen, when I ask my students if anyone has seen Master and Commander 2, I won't have a classroom full of blank faces, at least for a while.

OOOOO!!! It has to happen! Hollywood has spent a lot of more money in less well scripted movies...

It's been spoken of for some while, though, so I'm with QMM: It'd be nice, but we probably shouldn't get our hopes up. Which isn't to say I haven't shared the Acasta thing with my fellow POB/M&C fans elsewhere. SF

This would be nice. Do you suppose Billy Boyd and Paul Bettany would be interested as well?
It is fun to dream.

Oh aye, it definitely is! Should I hear something from the horse's mouth (a.k.a. Russell Crowe's twitter account), I'll let you know immediately. It's a good excuse to be on twitter more often.

This is a callout to me if ever there was one.

"Whatever happened to Captain Pullings?".
He was captured by the French and set adrift only to return as an Albanian mafia boss in Let's Be Cops?

Really. He looked great in a bad boy sort of way, but the movie was atrocious. Why do I keep watching stuff like this just for the sake of OD'Gs? *shakes head in shame*
