I had been drinking a fair amount of rum and diet Coke until I realized that what I like is to have a drink nearby and it doesn't have to be alcoholic. I also don't like to drink so much diet soda so I've switched to drinking sparkling water. I think I've even lost some weight because I can get into pants that were a little tight comfortably now.

You're right, Ship. There is a theory out there that diet sodas do NOT help in losing the weight; that it actually kills the good bacteria in one's tummy and feeds the bad. I have cut back some. I like the carbonation though.

I like the carbonation though. Diet sodas are terrible for you. I also like the carbonation, which the sparkling water satisfies.

Never really thought about it before but it sounds like a good idea. Should give it a try, specially with the Holidays coming.

This year is the first year that the family is splitting the Thanksgiving dinner, so one person isn't in charge of everything. Our (mine and Mom) part is bringing the pies and cranberry sauce. :-)

I adore prosecco. Zonin is my favorite, but Barefoot is pretty good too.

We've been invited to a colleague's home for Thanksgiving. Although we're not supposed to bring anything, I think a bottle of Prosecco just might do the trick.
Thanks for the idea, shipmates!

Never had Prosecco. I like the idea that it is lower on the calories than other drinks.
