I would probably be flying into Pittsburgh and drive up with the Cabingirls.

We would most likely rent a car as well.
One of the best times in my life was body surfing in Lake Erie, along the New York shore. I never wanted to come out the water (being an otter and all). Pure joy and exhilaration!

I bet the guys got up to all sorts of mischief. lol According to the couple of text pictures I got, there were lots of happy smiles.
And your sister had a really big wine glass. Really, just the glass. Nothing in it.

I believe I'd be in for Erie, if I can get away. Touring lots of ships sounds great. I would just drive straight from Chicago. I fantasize also about Boston in 2017?

We were thinking about Boston after the Constitution gets out of dry dock.

It would be wonderful to see you if you were able to get away, it has been a while.
I'd be up for Boston as well.

I am still trying to figure out the logistics since Tracy's wedding is the following Friday in New Jersey ..... I suppose once the con plans are formed, I can determine if I can do both! It’s just deciding the best way to get from Point A, Point B, Point C and possibly Point D without having to do X amount of flights or paying a rental car drop off fee! Her bachelorette weekend in May is at the resort the wedding will be held, so maybe I can get a better feel of how manageable it would be.

So I haven't heard back from anyone official, but I'm still willing to go forward with this if it's to everyone's taste. Check out this site for preliminary schedule postings: Tall Ships ErieI'm thinking have everyone gather on Wednesday, September 7, sometime during the day (or Thursday morning if that's better for you). We'll go to the Parade of Sail on Thursday afternoon and have ship tours on Friday, a day sail on Saturday or Sunday, and an evening pizza party/movie viewing/games one of those days. I have to investigate what is available as far as gathering places in the hotels. As an FYI, Monday, September 5 is Labor Day in the U.S. if that makes a difference for planning, work vacations and things. It will be an UnCon with no or very limited goodie bags and that sort of thing. If anyone absolutely objects to this or has a better idea (which is fine!), please let me know ASAP. I'm going to start contacting hotels and things this week, I think.

Just so you know, it's about a 7 or 8-hour drive from Erie to Philly. Not sure where you'll be in NJ--if it's "down the shore" as we say, tack on another 1.5-2 hours. Separate flights might work out better, to be honest.

Sounds good to me! I think SouthWest flies into Erie, so that will be great, even tho' it will probably take all day to get there ~Phizz
