Here is an interesting connection. David Warner has been in just about everything it would appear. So, here is a connection here.
He appears as Chancellor Gorkin in STAR TREK: THE UNDISCOVERED COUNTRY with Williams Shatner "THE" James T. Kirk. And most of are familiar with the fact that CS Forester's HORNBLOWER was Gene Roddenbury's character. Then, Warner played opposite to our Hornblower (Ioan) in the RETRIBUTION/MUTUNY episode.
Wouldn't it be delightful to get Ioan and Shatner together somewhere?!
Yours Aye,
Diane

It would blow a hole in the universe and we'd all be sucked into an historical epic set during the Napoleonic Wars. Or something. HMSCody

So the infamous "THERE. ARE. FOUR. LIGHTS!" line from Star Trek: The Next Generation has been coming up for me a lot lately. In the episode, "Chain of Command," a Cardassian officer tortures Jean-Luc Picard, trying to break his mind, to get him to admit there are five lights when there are four (an homage to the book 1984). I decided over the weekend I wanted to rewatch this episode. I was quite the TNG fangirl back in the day, and Captain Picard was my favorite character, so I remembered the episode well...or so I thought! So I spooled it up on Netflix and watched the first episode, in which Picard goes on a secret mission to find out if the Cardassians are building illegal weapons and is captured as a spy. Then he is brought before his Cardassian torturer, Gul Madred, who I realized is played by none other than David Warner! As he is in Cardassian makeup with extensive prostheses, I actually recognized his voice rather than his face! An interesting bit from Wikipedia: So David Warner has been in TWO ST movies and this episode of TNG! Up next, "Best of Both Worlds" part I and II (i.e., the Locutus of Borg episodes) and "The Inner Light," my other favorite Captain Picard episodes. <3 And yes, Diane, I agree it is delightfully cyclical to have crossover between the Hornblower and Star Trek universes! ETA: Oooh, I forgot to say that there is a ceremony where Picard reads himself out as captain, and the new captain reads himself in, and it's obviously based on the Royal Navy ceremony of the Napoleonic era. AND Picard reads his orders, in which he is "requested and required."

We may be getting closer to that hole in the universe than we imagined.
