(*sniff* Poor Warley!)
Why does the drive home always seem so much longer? Possibly because it was, due to the saddest club sandwich ever that still took a Denny's off I-80 nearly an hour to produce. #ScheduleWrecker At least the iced tea was good.
It was great to see everyone and despite my angst we had fun and mostly great weather! Thanks to all who helped out! Horatians are and always will be the absolute best.
Turning the quarterdeck over to someone else...

Glad you got home safe and sound, Mags. I'm home, too. Almost missed my connecting flight, one from Erie was 1/2 hour late. Walked really, really fast from F concourse to B concourse. Luckily, my gate was the 1st one. Yay!
3 cheers to you, Mags, for an awesome un-con! I had a blast! It was so good to see everyone again. Horatians are indeed the best.

Glad you both got home OK. Sandra and I had a fun time with breakfast at the Marriott and watching the rest of the Tall Ships that were still there. Checked out the "gift store" at the base of the tower and found the perfect tacky souvenir magnet for my sister (she collects tacky souvenirs) Checked out an art gallery and wished that I could bring one picture home, but definitely no wall space. We then went to a place recommended by our waitress as having souvenirs, walked along the lake for a little bit and visited an old cemetary. I'm finally here in Niagara-on-the-Lake and tomorrow will go exploring, hopefully ending with a ghost walk!! Thanks again Mags for a great un-con Thanks to Tracy for a very fun games of Apples to Apples. I'm going to have to get one for home. Thanks to you all for making my falls a great time!!! Hugs to you all, ~Phizz

Cheers Liz, I'd love to see a play, but my feet are killing me! Also I'd probably fall asleep I fell asleep when we were listening to a couple of lectures and also while watching a play at the Tall Ships Festival and woke up making a sound that I was unprepared for (to say the least :})
Had a fun time today looking at all the beautiful houses in NOTL Started out with the Niagara Local History Museum, very nicely done. Checked out several of the little shops. Had lunch at the Irish Tea Room (not the best, but not the worst either) Then when to Ft. George and walked around til it was time for the musket demonstration. There was a group of eighth or ninth graders there and the enactor was great with them. He played to their basic bloodthirstiness Learned the origin of the phrase "lock, stock, and barrel. The muskets were produced in three separate parts. Tried to get to the McDonnell House, but it's out of season for them.
Will be making the long trip back home tomorrw.

Got home last night after a very looong day. Getting back to work has been a shock to say the least.
Thanks a million for all the planning Mags. I really enjoyed seeing everyone and had a great time at the festival. It was a great horatian gathering. And while the ship stuff is great, it is all about the mates.

I think the first time I was in Fort George, I was 5-6 years old.....I still remember running around on the parade ground.......I've loved forts ever since.....SOTL suggested Quebec City as a site, which would be great, it it has the mother of all forts, The Citadel.......
Cheers

If we are going to Canada next year (Vancouver was also suggested) I'm going to have to learn aboot kilometers and Celsius! While driving around Ontario, I thought I was going the speed limit, but I was getting my doors blown off! It was especially unnerving yesterday morning driving back to Buffalo in the rain! Also when watching the Weather channel, trying to figure out if it's gonna be hot or not made me wish I'd paid more attention in school to converting Celsius to Fahrenheit! ~Phizz

Quick guide:
0C = 32F 10C = 50F 20C = 68F 30C = 90F >30C = I'm staying in the AC
On most of our roads (some variation by Province): 40KMH in school zones 50 or 60 KMH urban roads 80 KMH secondary HWYs 100 KMH large HWYs or Expressways (eg, 4 lanes or wider); 100 KMH = 60 MPH
Gas is sold by the litre.....(so is milk, in plastic bags if you want)
Cheers
