A discussion came up of possibly having a cruise-moot, and a cruise on the St. Lawrence Seaway was suggested. I volunteered to research possibilities. The gold standard seems to be this cruise by Pearl Cruises. It leaves from Portland, Maine, stops in the Canadian Maritimes, goes up into the Gulf of St. Lawrence and down the St. Lawrence River, stopping at Quebec City, Montreal, and the Thousand Islands, into Lake Ontario and ending in Toronto. This is quite a cruise and is eye-wateringly expensive. Also I'm sure most of us couldn't spare two weeks for the moot. It would be pretty awesome, though! USA Cruises has a 6-night cruise from Kingston, Ontario to Quebec City (or vice versa). It's less expensive but still a little spendy. St. Lawrence Cruise Lines also does a cruise from Kingston to Quebec City, which is similarly priced. They also have some shorter itineraries that are less expensive, but personally I would want to go to Quebec City. To be honest, I'd rather just fly to Quebec City and then take a river tour of some kind (there are all kind of day cruises). Maybe for that tall ship regatta in the other thread. I'm just saying.

I was also looking into a perhaps gathering in Portland, Maine. There is a lot to see up there. I saw two possible spots for lodging - at a hotel in the city and taking over a bed and breakfast at a nearby town. They have this bus trip you can sign up for and it takes you to all the sites.
BUT - this is just a thought I had and we can either look into it for another year or skip it all together.
I like the idea of the 2017 gathering in Canada. The cruise seems wonderful, BUT, I think that a cruise would be the whole gathering. I would love to fly into Quebec and then have a nice look around the city and all.
Another idea for a gathering, while it may be a bit pricy is a cruise in itself. I went to Bermuda in 2015 on Noreweign Cruise Lines and LOVED it. We could all take a cruise to the Caribbean, Bahamas, Bermuda or where ever. Just an idea.

If people are interested in something in Canada, 2017 is our 150th anniversary, so there will be some unique events across the country.....

If we go to Vancouver there is a tall ship, Pacific Grace that is berthed there. The Cambridges got to sail on her today. I'm jealous! ~Phizz
