Between traveling, the fire, the Holidays and work, the waistline took a big hit. *sigh*

I am back on Weight Watchers. I had already re-signed up prior to leaving for HH2017 as we finally had enough people to start an at work group, but after seeing Pam's transformation at HH2017, I was even more encouraged to do it. I am down 21 pounds but you know how the holidays are -- so I am not as far along as I had hoped but progress is progress!
Just need to work out a little more. I dropped my two workouts at work -- I decided it was time for someone else take it over and no one wanted to step up so we dissolved the group. So I do my two dance classes and yoga but know I need to build in that cardio! I guess relying on walking around Disney World isn't a good plan ...

I, too, am on Weight Watchers and have lost ten pounds. I started 3 weeks ago.
Last summer I could hardly walk. My right ankle is weak and wasn’t getting better. I will admit that twisting it several times in Montreal didn’t help. But, I found out that I have arthritis in that ankle, so unfortunately it will always be weak.
I hope loosing 50 lbs or more will help it. Plus, being pre-hypertension, I should loose weight. The doctor says that hopefully loosing weight will stop the blood pressure from getting high.
Wish me luck. I need to loose a total of 100 lbs to be roughly around the weight I should be for my height and age. I would be VERY happy to loose 75 lbs. My first goal is to get back to the weight I was when we got together in Philadelphia. My dream is seeing the scale say 197 lbs. Because I would love to be under 200 pounds.

Jamie -- how are you liking the new Freestyle? I am loving it because I ate a lot of now 0 point foods anyway. We have a great leader at our at work group. She's been lifetime since 2004 and keeps us motivated.
I do let myself get a treat here and there (like last night we went to Olive Garden for date night) but I track it. Back in the day, I would have said, damn -- wrecked my diet so no sense in staying on it! But I like the accountability.
I am about 15-20 pounds from goal. I set it for a reasonable goal and will reevaluate once I get there.

The jury is out on freestyle. I am noticing many good changes. I get fuller quicker, have some energy. Plus, I am looking at this not as lose weight and then eat what I want. I am looking at this as eat sensible and if they have pizza or cake have ONE piece. Go to Olive Garden, Applebees, but don’t pig out. Pick and choose what you give up.
One thing I like about freestyle is that there are free foods and you don’t feel like you are cheating. Get the shrimp scampi because the shrimp is free. Just don’t get it at the Cheesecake Factory because it’s over 1,000 calories.
I don’t go to the meetings because in the past, I had trouble getting there and then you hear all the success stories and no struggle stories and it basically got me frustrated. Jane lost 10 pounds this week! Steve gained 5 lbs, but you don’t hear that because Steve wouldn’t say that out loud. I do like the weight watchers app and the community there. I put myself as ladyjamers there, too.
Congratulations on being near your goal. Mine is 40 lbs and I hope to get there, but I am not 100% sure I will. But, I will try to be a better me.

I agree. I like that I can eat what I want; I just need to account for it and track it. Years and years ago I did Nutrisystem and it was a struggle to only eat their food.
And I hear you on the meetings. This is one reason why I left my local WW group in May ~ I loved the leader. She was great, but she let people hijack the meetings and then she wouldn't be able to convey any info or the meeting went on twice as long because she kept having to try and rein these folks in! Which is why I love that we have a group at work now. Because we all know one another, there is even a little more accountability and this leader controls the flow. If people start getting off track or break into smaller conversations, she knows how to reel it back in.
I don't like Connect. I really liked the old message board they had. It made it much easier to communicate IMO. It is just various posts here and there. I belong to a few FB groups but it's the same thing either. It clogs my feed and I have unjoined a few because -- let's face it -- how many times can people post about the 2 ingredient bagel recipe?! Literally hundreds.

Congrats to Bucky and LadyJamers in determining to take charge of your weight/health situation.
May I suggest that you get a good tape measure and take your measurements once a week. Maybe even just your wasteline. That way even when you don't see a drop on the scales, you will probably see some loss in inches. Also, if you have any clothes you can wear at present, try to try them on periodically. You might see some changes.
In the meantime, you go for it!
Yours Aye,
Diane

Labor Day 2018
So, for those of you heading out to Labor Day, hope it is a safe one!
FYI--I myself rejoined a gym recently. I think I need some light weight strengthening and a little more of cardio workout.
As Mr. Churchill said "Never, never, never give up."
Yours Aye,
Diane

Encouraged by the Queue Mistress Mags, I got myself a Fitbit. Now I find myself looking for ways to stretch out my daily walking! What I learned with this little thing was that I actually move more in a day than I thought. "Making my steps" is no longer an ominous goal. The funny thing is that I never imagined that a tiny computer could make such a difference, and I can already tell that it's doing me good.

Watch out! Those tiny computers can be both annoying and necessary! Jamie showed me how to change the accent on my Siri maps app! Boy is she an nag, but with an Australian accent!

I have a Fitbit Versa and these days do make my steps most days. But I have also taken up running again (after a hiatus of 30+ years) - and yesterday morning was pleased to manage 5 miles in under 50 minutes. Ok just under but still under - all prep for a 10km run in very early November.
