Just "found" Captain Jean Terford David - what an extremely good looking man: The portrait is by Thomas Sully. I never heard of Captain David before. Just that he was French born, but joined the American army. You can view the painting in the Cleveland Museum of Art.

Tres woof! Am I imagining things or is he channeling a bit of a Horatio vibe in that painting? Maybe it is the curls in the picture in your signature that made me think so.

It's not only you, ship, to come up with that thought. I was immediately struck in the same way at my first glance at him. Horatian minds think alike - or what was the correct wording of that proverb again?

"Captain Jean" really looks a bit like Horatio. This precious skin, the large brown eyes, the dark curls, even the nose,... Maybe I drew attention to him because of that,.. who knows? A historical eye-candy if you ask me.
