But nevertheless, I feel worth mentioning for Austen buffs.
I just attended a book club. There was discussion on Egypt, the Pyramids and the Nile. Someone asked where the source of the Nile is. I said that 'the source of the Nile is in Abyssinia.' Unfortunately, none of these folks had seen the '93 Emma Thompson version of SENSE AND SENSIBILITY much less read the book.
Oh Alas!!

Diane

You didn't flash on the scene where the middies are working out their navigation problems and Simpson was discovered to have found the source of the Nile?? Classic scene from The Duel!

Nice one, Diane. At least from me, you would have gained a suppressed giggle. And Phizz, sure, it's a classic scene but hard to act out alone, I think, esp. as we don't know how the discussion had been going on until then. However, what a fun moment that would have been.

Actually Phizz, I did remember that scene...later. But, I wanted to verify it. I was enchanted with the Austen aspect.
Under the older forum it would have been useful to have the 'blank stares' smiley when I told you about this. I'm still trying to figure things out here. Guess that's why I'm still a midshipman. I don't see them added to the website yet.
Glad you enjoyed the giggles.
Yours Aye,
Diane

A new one--
There is a car commercial (I'm not going to mention the particular brand). But it reminds me of the 2007-2008 version of NORTHANGER ABBY (the one with our favorite JJ Field). A small child is put in the carseat of his parents car. They are driving through rain and wind. The child sees visions of lots of 'spooky' things. Nothing threatening though. Its really the music that accompanies the commercial that gives it a punch. It is really cute!
Anyone else seen it?
Yours Aye,
Diane

I think I know which one you are talking about although I could not even tell you what they are trying to sell. I'll pay attention to the music next time it is on.
