Now that you've all had a chance to get home, unpack and catch your breath, what were some of your favorite moments?
Thanks in advance for sharing,

I have one for you, Phizz. On the Friday we toured The Citadel, the South Carolina military college. It was also the beginning of Parents' Weekend and there were cadets, their families and significant others in town and at the hotel. The Admiralty had arranged the con dinner in the hotel restaurant and most of us gathered in the adjacent bar for drinks before. We were called to our tables and I went off to the Ladies. 3 uniformed Citadel cadets were standing in a group in the bar and looked in my direction when I reentered. I was wearing my lieutenant's uniform complete with buckled shoes and frilly shirt and thought I'd have a bit of fun. I walked up to the boys, hands clasped behind my back, and chatted for a couple of minutes about our visit to The Citadel earlier in the day and asked how their families were enjoying themselves. They were all very polite and addressed me as Ma'am but clearly were mystified as to who/what the heck I was. I walked to our table with a big grin on my face.

A few of my favorite moments, in no particular order, were: - Walking along the Battery, it was an incredibly gorgeous early evening.
- Shopping with shipmates at the Market.
- Coming into the bar at the hotel and being hit by the amazing view all around us.
- The previously mentioned encounter with the Hornblower fan when asking for directions.
And one that happens at every con, catching up with everyone. Never gets old.

SOTL for being the best coffee barista by bringing us coffee every morning from the lobby (bless you!). The road rally mentality to get in and out of the hotel parking lot ~ 0 to 50 in two seconds! Eating the yummy local food with friends (definitely blame the she crab soup for not losing weight that week). The great harbor tour with a fantastic guide. Gaby, Jan, Sue and I having our morning routine down to a science! Touring the historical houses. Mingling and shopping at The Market. The generosity of Estelle and her family for opening up their beach house to us for the last evening (and it makes me want to rent one in St. Augustine!). And realizing what I missed most about missing the last three conventions – seeing old friends and meeting new ones.

Hands down, favorite moments are being with the group. I really did enjoy the downtown strolls. The architecture, the gardens and the colors are different from what we would typically see here out west. Even the palm trees were of a different type. It came as no surprise when Conde Nast Traveller readers chose Charleston as the #1 U.S. city to visit. All of the tours were great. I'm still haunted by the Hunley. Those poor men. On a more cheerful note, the beach house was fun! Thank you, Estelle, for that lovely evening. And I always love it when mmt dresses in her uneeform. She can carry that off like no one else. I can just imagine her grin as she walked away from the Cadets. How immensely cool! Otter

Sounds like a lot of fun.
Did anyone pick up a copy of THE HUNLEY the movie or any souveniers?
Yours Aye,
Diane

I got a little Hunley lapel pin. And had a ton of fun making a fool of myself having my picture taken sitting in the movie prop they had at the museum.
