Actually, I think I'm making some progress. I've quietly instituted two or three meatless days in our eating week, and upped the salad consumption quite a bit. My husband has been a more willing participant since he couldn't quite button a favorite shirt about two months ago, and it's easier to be good when it's both of us rather than just me. We're leaning toward "Mediterranean" themed menus -- bring on the olives! Just today, I caught myself in the mirror and my first thought was "Woo! It's working!" Seeing a little progress ups one's momentum!

I am starting to go through the change of life & am in the beginning stages of learning I have arthritis. So, the time I had no pain, I am starting to have pain in my joints. When I get back from work, I am usually dead tired. What do you gals think I can do to try to keep myself in shape because, I got myself completely out of shape.

Water aerobics is great for folks with joint problems because there's so much less impact than dry-land work-outs. Don't worry about how you look in a swimsuit, just take good care of yourself. Also, meditation can help with pain management.

I should look into that. They do have it at my gym, but only at the branch that is 35 minutes away.

I have done water aerobics (or aquarobics as they call it locally) and it is worth trying. Also find I am less creaky if I cut down considerably on the amount of wheat in my diet, particularly refined white flour. Am happy to report that, since the beginning of June, I've lost 14lb - by writing down everything I eat, weighing food to control portion sizes, and counting calories. It ain't fashionable, but it works, and you do get into the habit of it after a while. Slow and steady is the best way to lose, to stand the best chance of keeping it off.

I meant to say something at the beginning of October but got distracted.
Anyway, anyone have good news to report? Or challenges? What about if you started at the beginning of 2014?
Just hang in there no matter how things are going.
Yours Aye,
Diane

Well, I broke a nail this morning. That's about a loss of .00000000000000000000000001 of an ounce. Woo hoo! Probably lost more from the annoyance factor running through my blood. The good news is, I'm making less errors on the keyboard with a bald finger. That, and it's the middle one, which adds to the fun of showing people.
Seriously, though, I was surprised that I did not gain any weight from two weeks of travelling and restaurant food. Then again, we all had some good walks in St. Augustine. And across the pond in Warwickshire, lots of walking around historical sites. I think I shed more tears at the wedding than pounds (weight-wise that, is... British monetary-wise is a whole 'nother story!).
So.... walking around historical sites is good for you. Walking the duty-free aisles at Heathrow stocked with enticing British confectionary....not so good. But, oh so worth it!
