Today's score is Jellyfish 2; Horatians 0. Nigel and I are following the advice of the Mayo Clinic website for treating pain and stinging. Hurricane has gone to northwestern South Carolina (which I am not making up), so we are having a lovely time. We are off to lunch at the pirate restaurant.

Meanwhile, Phizz, SuAnn, James and I are in town touring some old mansions, and having lunch at the Savannah Tap House. Jamers has taken some lovely photos. After lunch, we will head over to Juliette Gordon Low's house where I will pretend that was an ace Girl Scout.

Last day. :-(. Everyone going home until next year. It has been wonderful, as always. Will miss everyone! Loved our breakfasts on the balcony and too much more to describe. Lots of love and hugs! Check in when you get home!

Every year I say I am going to take more pictures and then don't follow through. Well, this year was different. I took NO pictures. Yep, going to have to rely on others to post their pictures!
The adventure started with the impending arrival of Hurricane Florence -- not knowing what path she would stay on but we went ahead with the moot and am glad we did because it turned north and did not really affect the weather too much. With Jamie's arrival in Orlando. I got the car packed and we headed out bright and early Wednesday morning to Savannah. Made good timing with the exception of traffic in Jacksonville. Finally found the house after turning on the wrong 17th street. Who would name a street 17th Street and one 17th Place two streets apart?!
Anyway -- finally found the house. Three floors for us to occupy. Despite the elevator being down, we managed to bring up all the stuff packed in the car. Then Phizz arrived. Picked Jan up from airport; Pam and Sandra arrived a/la Thelma and Louise style in her new convertible; then I picked up the Otters; Suanne arrived and then finally Mags -- then we were all together!
Beach day was fun, while some did historical house tours -- we enjoyed the sun and surf. Brian and Jan got drinks in pineapples (wish we had gotten pics!). It was all fun and games until the jellyfish started stinging. Poor Sandra and then Brian. Thus ended our beach day ….. it was fun while it lasted.
Did the trolley tour of Savannah -- very interesting and we had a great driver (Joycee). Saw the square that Forrest Gump sits at as well as the restaurant Jenny worked at. Fascinating historical houses and how Savannah was on the brink of demolishing these houses with the upswing of restoration. Had lunch and then toured the Ships of the Sea Maritime Museum (unbelievable ship models!). The headed to The Pirate House for dinner and then game night.
River boat cruise up and down the Savannah River was interesting. Also another good tour guide. Lunch and shopping at riverside and another game night!
Last day of the moot -- we toured the Tybee Island light house and Fort Screven, and then some did another house tour while the rest went back to riverside and did some shopping and lunch at Lizzy's. Back to the beach house. We did some chillaxing and noshing. We did the drawing for the annual prize. Mags won a nautical bottle lamp. Last go around of LCR.
The dreaded departure day arrived. One by one people were leaving to head home. Several of us driving; others flying. Jamie is still in Savannah, taking off first thing tomorrow morning. Poor Sandra had to change her plans because of the hurricane in NC. Pam had to re-route a little to get home. It ended up just me and the Otters at the last. The property manager advised that we could stay another night for free, but I had already planned on heading home after the last airport run. The Otters and I ate lunch at the Pirate House again. After dropping them off, I came back by the riverside on the way to the beach house to pack up my car, and they were filming something! I couldn't see what it was, but lots of trucks, crew and they had one lane blocked off right in front of the riverside. Pretty cool. Ended up making excellent time once I got onto I-95 and was home, unpacked by 8:00.
All in all it was a FANTASTIC moot. I think everyone enjoyed that the beach house brought us all together in one main living area and each of us had their own bed. It was nice to have a kitchen to prep food and a large table so that everyone could sit together and play games or eat. While it has its plusses and minuses, I am going to miss that house and the fun that was had. I admit I was a little sad after leaving for the last time …. the time goes by so quickly.
So until the next one, we'll have all the fun memories. I cannot wait to see everyone's pictures.

The jellyfish really ruined good sport (not to mention injuring two Horatians! That's a hanging offense!). It was hard to believe we were worried about a hurricane...the ocean was incredibly calm, we were out there just sort of riding swells and it was wonderful until the attack began, and then we noped out of there. The water was just cool enough to be refreshing on a warm day. And while the weather was humid, there was almost always a breeze to keep things bearable. Wish we had that in Philly. I don't know if it was the fringes of Flo or if it's always breezy there, but it was great, especially out on the veranda...there was almost always a breeze out there, sometimes more than a breeze, but it was always really pleasant.
I didn't post any photos on social media because I had friends going through flooding and tornadoes (!) so I felt bad saying, "Hey, I was just south of y'all and it was great there!"
I had a wonderful time and it was lovely spending time with my Horatian buddies, whether sitting on the beach or on a tour trolley or climbing the lighthouse or bumping down cobblestone ramps to the river.

Tuesday ... I’m sitting in my TV room with morning coffee and there’s no one to talk to.
Firstly, does anyone know how to post photos now that Photobucket charges money for what used to be a free service? I would especially like to post a photo of a jellyfish which I think is more likely to be of the sort that inflicted damage to our dear Horatians than the itty bitty one that I tossed back into the surf so it could rejoin its family who were no doubt mad with worry that their dear one had been kidnapped and was being held for ransom. (Sorry, I bought a Sue Grafton book at the airport shop and am almost finished it.)
Secondly, I guess I have your cell phone numbers after message after message from numbers not on my contact list showed up. My initial reaction was How did these &#@)””% telemarketers get my number?
Thanks for the airport drop off, Phizz. Turned out I didn’t need to be there as early as I was. My experience flying in and out of places like Pearson in Toronto, Trudeau in Montreal and Heathrow, of course, makes me lean towards being way early and not just in time. At boarding time the gate agent announced the usual Zones 1 and 2 may now board. Nobody jumped out of their seat to rush up as is the usual scenario. She scanned our expectant faces then said into her microphone, Well then, how ‘bout y’all come on up. An announcement like that at Pearson would result in broken bones, lost children and firehoses being deployed. I wondered if the flight back up north would run into remnants of Florence but it was smooth sailing all the way. I had few hours to wait for my connection to Ottawa so I spent much of it having dinner and watching people. I always try to look like I know where I’m going (even if I don’t) and how to find my gate and to read signs so I don’t look like a total doofus. Bewilderment seems to be the general condition.
I am missing the heat and even the humidity of Tybee Island. I hope I can draw on those memories when it’s -30* here in a few months. What a great place to vacation! The house was so perfect for together-time or alone-time and unlike in a hotel there was no need to get dressed for breakfast (spoken by someone who has been known to have both breakfast and lunch whilst wearing pjs and house coat). The only problem I experienced was that the internet wasn’t strong enough in my bedroom so I could watch Britbox in bed 🤔 but this was small beer in the whole scheme of things. Tommy Lynley isn’t going anywhere.
Bucky certainly provided loads of supplies both food and non- . It appeared that your car would be only slightly less full on the drive home.
I will see grandson Jackson this week. My presence for his birth on Saturday was not required, not that I expected it would be anyway. He definitely has reddish-blonde hair! What a turnup for the books that is.
Looking forward to whatever is planned for 2019, ladies and gents.

Jan, Google Photos works great for me. If you have a Google account (GMail or some of their other service) you already have an account and can upload. You can sort into albums and make them private so just you can see, public so anyone who has the link can see, or share with specific people only. They also do fun things for you like enhance photos and make a "movie" out of photos from a specific event or trip, which just show up in your stuff.
However, you only get so much free space and then you have to pay for it--I think it's $20 a year. I find it worth it to pay, though when I buy Chromebooks I get space free for a year! But if you upload at a smaller size (okay if you're not using it as your main storage--save locally at full size for printing) you will get more photos in the same space. My Pixel phone automatically backs up all my photos at full size, so I pay for extra space.
Once I get a chance to sort through my album I'll post it here.

I have to tell ya, it seems much more than 3 days since we were all together. Seriously having withdrawals. At least we have 2019 to look forward to.
