I'm heading out for St Augustine tomorrow morning. I'll have my tablet with me so I'll check the boards for any developments. See you guys on Wednesday!!
Safe journeys to all.

Woke up with ten million things going inside my head ..... just keep adding to my list! Got to get the car tuned up in the morning, cleaned, vacuumed and all packed by tomorrow night. I have to get through one more day of work. Wish I had taken it off, but I decided to work it since we had a trial on October 1 that required some trial prep. Which trial, of course, was rescheduled last week. But once I walk outta the door today, I don't come back until the 14th. 2 days to go!

So long as a hurricane doesn't hit just days before the Con, like what happened for Norfolk. =D

Hurricanes aren't in the area, but a government shut down is - you may not be able to see fort Sumter. But I am sure you will have a great time anyway!

I will say the one positive about that Hurricane was when we rented a car to drive to Yorktown and the battlefield, because of the winds from the storm you could seen placements of the battalions which you wouldn't have been able to see otherwise due to the flora and fauna. So if you needed that silver lining to that cloud of all the power loss, I guess that was it.
We got lost trying to find the town (Salty Dog was driving....I was, errrrr, "attempting" to be her navigator. We got to a dead end that happened to end at a military spot/base of some sort, so we pulled over, I took my military ID out of my wallet and got out of the car and walked up to the guard shack to ask for directions to the town, and the guy in the shack said "Are you guys lost trying to find the beach?" I said "Heck no, we are historical/military buffs and we are trying to find Yorktown!" He very nicely told me where we had turned wrong and we were able to find the town just fine. What a fantastic day that was.

Arrived in St Augustine. Exhausted. Only got about 3 hours of sleep then drove not quite 5 hours to get here. Saw 4 hotels today. Finally checked into my hotel. Have the beginning of a headache. Went to unpack and realized I probably left a pill box at home with some of my migraines meds in it. Luckily I have my main med with me. Mom's going to check the house tomorrow to see of she can find my pill box. If so may have her mail some of it to me in charleston. Hopefully a good nights sleep with help.
I realized before leaving I somehow got the wrong travel time from St Augustine to Charleston. I remember checking it on mapquest awhile back and got 3 hours. When I did it again last night is was 4&1/2. Oops. Going to try to get out of here earlier on Wednesday to make up the time.
Bucky, I was running around too the past few days, getting the car checked, then cleaned, paying bills, getting supplies ready to board the pets, etc. it seems everything took longer to do than planned. Sometimes I think you need a week to prepare for a week off.
Going to to be busy, busy tomorrow. Can't wait to see everyone.

Sometimes I think you need a week to prepare for a week off. Going to to be busy, busy tomorrow. Can't wait to see everyone. I think it all depends on how fast you drive, Sue. The estimates AAA and mapquest have are going the actual speed limit. Last time, I was a major lead foot and got there in a little over 4 hours from Orlando. This time, I am not going to drive as fast! But I should get there within 4 1/2 hours since I'll be veering off on I-26 towards the airport before getting near the hotel or downtown. Sorry to hear that you left your meds. Hopefully you can get them sent. I have all my clothes laid out and ready for the suitcase. Going to do a final weather check tomorrow afternoon and decide what goes and what stays. I am a consummate over-packer .... Plan to get to bed at a decent time tonight, then up and out early to get car tuned up, errands run and the car washed and cleaned so I can relax the rest of the day, Have to be up and out of the house by 6:30 AM on Wednesday to pick my Dad up, take him to adult day care and then jump on I-4 by 7:15-7:30 AM. Do have a question --- is everyone dressing casual for Friday's dinner or dressing up?Karen - I am trying to think - I don't remember the hurricane then! I do remember being in Toronto and someone asking me about the hurricane that struck Florida that I had no idea about. I loved Yorktown. I think Tricia and I rented a car and tooled around but too many Smirnoff Ices cloud my memory ...

For Friday's dinner I am bringing a pair of dressier jeans and a nice top. Not getting dressed up like the Moshulu.

Me too Liz! I don't want to have to pack another pair of shoes for Friday's dinner, but will probably have to since I am only brining sneakers and sandals. Weather Channel dropped the rain chance to 20% on Sunday, so Monday looks like the only day with the major possibility of rain. Yeah! 1 day to go!
