I'm definitely well aware of how to behave in an East Coast city. But this being my hometown, I have concerns and want all to have a good time! I think I will just back off with my advice for our get together. If you need my help with anything, you all can let me know. Bucky and Saucy, if you do happen to want me to meet up with you when searching for hotels, and I am not working that day, I will gladly help. Otherwise, I think it best for me to not have input. Apparently, I am seem to be doing more harm than good. A shame, since all I want is for folks to have fun in my home town.

Not sure I understand the "We will" part of the last post. "We will"...what? To be honest, I have gotten myself somewhat upset about the fact that I am trying to help out with our get together and I feel like my input is not valid, for lack of a better word. I mean, that long post about how to behave in a big city. I feel like it was directed right at me. I am the one who brought up about you all being safe here in Baltimore in September. I already KNOW how to behave in a big city! Sorry if some folks are not taking my posts in the positive way they are being posted. I was going to check out some pubs in the Fell's Point neighborhood, especially the nautically-themed ones, to see if maybe we wanted to have a meal or two at them. Should I go do that or not? I have always enjoyed myself at our get togethers and with this one being in my hometown, I have been doubly excited. But right now I feel like I am on the outside looking in.

Hi Patty, I just meant that we will have fun. I appreciate your concern for our well-being and your eagerness for us to enjoy ourselves in your city. Check your private messages for a longer note from me.

Patty ~ I don’t think you need to take anything personally or the wrong way. As you have chimed in with your two cents (pros and cons), so have others. Nothing is meant to discredit the other nor is it an attack. Everyone is entitled their say, whether it be suggestions, ideas, helpful tips, etc. It is only a sharing of information that we have learned.
I certainly have put my two cents in over the years on convention ideas, locations and such, amiright?!! Many ideas or suggestions I posted were used, never used or others posted their opinions about the pros and cons on the viability of the idea, but I didn’t take it personally.
Like you said yourself, you are giving your two cents in order to make the convention great Others should be able to do the same, no?
To borrow a line from Tom Hanks in You’ve Got Mail, “It’s not personal, it’s business.”
Saucy lived in MD for decades and has vast knowledge of the area. Because I recently moved in February and Saucy just got back into the country we have not been balls to the wall the last couple of weeks -- we will go full steam soon. I have the website started and am filling in information as I go.
We have lots of places (nautical is a +) on our list of things to do and see and will be featured on our sights page on the website. Fells Point is a stop on the Water Taxi route for one of the sight seeing days, and we will take full advantage of it - especially for food, drinks and shopping. We'll be reporting back soon!

Hi Bucky, thanks for taking the helm while I've been away. I greatly appreciate it. As Bucky has mentioned above, we've both been away from the planning stage for a bit, but now we can focus and chart out our upcoming Hornblower gathering in September. If you haven't filled out the survey please do so as soon as you can. This is the information that will assist Bucky and I with the appropriate number of attendees with regard to holding room blocks and so forth. If you have any questions, please feel free to send me a private message on this board. We appreciate your patience. Thanks, Saucy

I have put this info on the website travel page but figured I would put it here because people might want to check it out before we get the website up. Amtrak is featuring a Downtown to Downtown metro 25% off or more deal from New York, Philadelphia and Boston to Baltimore (i.e, $35 each way from Philly; $13 from Washington).

I hear ya! I see all these sales for travel but it never seems to be where I want to go ... 181 days until HH2015! Trace and I had a long cyber-meeting last night and we are making progress! We are awaiting word back from some of the hotels we contacted as to room price and possible conference room rental. So we'll keep you guys updated. And in this day in history: 1634 Lord Baltimore founds the Catholic colony of Maryland

Hey All, just to let those who are planning to come to Baltimore in September, Bucky and I are getting closer to securing a hotel. I have a contract from one and I'm waiting to hear from another hotel. I'm hoping they can come in at a lower nightly rate. Once the hotel is secured, we can push out the communication. We appreciate your patience. We also have extended the gathering by a day on the front end. September 23rd will be the travel/arrival day, so we have more time to site see. Getting excited!!!

Another update: after major research, comparing choices, crunching numbers and several cyber-chats, we have the deal with a hotel almost worked out with a great nightly rate. The website is pretty much done with the exception of some minor tweaks and the additional information we are waiting on. The hope is to have the website up in the next week to ten days, depending on how rapidly we get all the ducks chickens in a row! If you have any questions, comments or suggestions in the meantime, please feel free to post it here or contact us via e-mail or PM.

Saw that the NFL released schedules yesterday. Looks like the Ravens will have a home game against the Bengals the weekend of HH2015 starting at 1:00 PM.
Hopefully it should not impact us too much, except maybe more folks in the area that weekend.
Hopefully we can unveil the website soon. Just finalizing a few details with the hotel re the contract.

The contract has been signed. Stay tuned for more details coming soon!!
