What are the local weatherfolk saying about Florence? We should probably keep an eye on that; I would hate to end up as a bad example on The Weather Channel. :-)

I am not letting a hurricane spoil our fun. It may rain on it, but sunshine may come through.
Even so - after watching my local news after watching Savannah’s local news, I am deciding to change my suitcase to the smaller one and take some stuff out.
If the worst happens and I hope it won’t, I don’t have to drag a big, heavy suitcase. I can wash some clothes down there. My tactic is use my carry on like check luggage, so I can bring stuff over 3 oz. This means the first aid kit I got stays home. I got one bathing suit and not two and so on.
The magazines go in the backpack, so I got them.
On a happy note - for those of you who have BritBox, like me, they have Life on Mars with John Simm and Phil Glenister.
Let’s hope the weather gods are with us and we don’t have to hanker down and take cover. Hugs to all!

We do have trip protection (I bit the bullet and got it for $156). It is 100% refund of the rental amount in the event severe weather affects travel plans. So if no one can get to the rental because of airline cancellations, road cancellations, etc., we will get a full refund. My contacts with Kathlee lead me to believe that she would work with us but I can't assume, which is why I got the travel protection. Peace of mind.
I actually checked to see if the house was rented after our week and it is booked Oct 4-8 but is available for the next weeks prior to the 4th as well as the remainder of October. God forbid if this hurricane hits, but we have options. Would anyone be able to reschedule their travel/vacation days if airlines are grounded?
I have been through many hurricanes and tropical storms. It's hit or miss. I am kind of nonchalant because so many times we have prepped and then gotten nothing. I think we do need to keep track of this the next day or two to see if the trajectory changes.
However, I will be calling Kathee this weekend to find out the status of the elevator as well as the check in/out times.
Jamie and I will be rolling into Savannah/Tybee around 11:00ish, if she doesn't mind leaving early. I just want to make the most of Wednesday, and I can drop stuff off in order to do airport runs.

Games I have - LCR, Uno, 2 decks of playing cards, iPad with Heads Up on it.
I got a coloring book and crayons (had this for Juliet and I liked it, so instead of Paw Patrol, I got us a tall ship coloring book.) I got First Magazine, Woman’s world Weekly and a tabloid (not sure if it is US or Star - don’t read it for the stories, but like the parts where you see what is in their purse and sometimes you can see them shop at CVS). ;-). :-p

Phizz -- yes bring music videos if you have room in your suitcase. We can play them while we eat/play games. I plan on bringing some CDs.
Has anyone contacted their airline to ascertain their flight cancellation policy due to weather? How is everyone feeling about this?
I have been watching the weather and it looks like it will be moving more north. TI might get outer bands, and it will be relatively calm after. The forecast still says that it'll be nice and sunny many days we are there.
I am off to pick up the canopy and chairs, and hopefully get more chairs. Can you believe a lot of stores already put their summer stuff away here? Beach towels and beach gear are hard to find unless you go to a beach supply store, but it's my agenda this morning. I have 6 beach towels; Phizz and Suanne said they have some (I think?) and Pam.

The forecast still says that it'll be nice and sunny many days we are there. I was directly affected by an east coast storm in October 2015 when the plan was to fly to NYC to join friends on Queen Mary 2. The weather affected flights as far west as Ontario. I ended up having to scramble for a flight to Toronto, stay overnight in the airport and leave on the early morning flight to LaGuardia .... without my luggage. What a difference the overnight hours made. The direct flight I missed sat on our tarmac for 45 minutes before getting permission to take off and then flew through the storm. My friends on board said it was turbulence the whole way. I, on the other hand, had beautiful weather the next morning with lots of sun and no trace of bad weather. I was relieved to find my suitcases at the Air Canada baggage office at LaGuardia; they'd made the flight without me. I had just enough time for a shower and something to eat at the hotel where my friends were staying before heading to Red Hook to board the ship.
I've signed up for flight cancellation notification for the Toronto-Savannah leg on Wednesday but if the weather does turn into something, rebooking for later in the week might be a problem. I'm keeping fingers crossed and knocking on wood.

Yes, CVS has almost all of their beach stuff put away. You would think Orlando area would keep beach stuff out all year. Guess it’s not hot all year down there.

Suanne and I have been in constant contact this morning on our mission to find beach towels. I got 6 beach chairs and, after a few stops, I found really nice towels at Ollie's for $5! Suanne found a cooler.
It's hot here and beach weather most of the year, but the stores bow to the season so it's all school and Halloween out. I found the chairs in the garden center at Walmart, but no towels.
Just keep watching the weather updates. It sounds like it won't make landfall until Friday if it stays on their projected course. That area would be getting outer bands. Generally it's kind of calm before and definitely after a TS/hurricane moves through.

Just checked NOAA weather site and it has the eye on Fayetteville
The line of being hit - Savannah is just in the circle - so we will get the fringes. I live in the fringes of hurricane territory and it can be a bit bad - like at Sandy. But not too bad. Mainly a huge rain storm and some damage.
Says will hit Friday morning and when hits land, should be category 2.

The fleet hasn't put to sea yet but they're ready to go if necessary. Glad to hear that Tybee is looking like not being in the direct path. I will not be available to reschedule for October should the weather ground flights. Every once in awhile I have to show up and do what they pay me for, so that they don't stop paying me. I'm already on the East Coast, so I'll be using vacation days either way.
