If anyone is looking for a side trip before or after the moot, the town of La Malbaie in the Charlevoix region could be an option. It looks lovely: www.tourisme-charlevoix.com/en/sectors/la-malbaie/It is about 150 KM, North East from QC and is accessible by road or tourist train, so it could be done as a day trip.......it is far enough east that there is whale watching in the St Lawrence......

Bucky and I were thinking of doing Montreal. The Botanical Gardens look cool. What top three places would you choose to see?

There are several museums, including the McCord, Pointe-à-Callière Museum (archeology)......If you are a hockey fan, the Bell Centre does tours......Beaver Lake at the top of the mountain........Crescent Street for bars and restaurants......the Biodome.......if you take the Metro up to about Laurier and walk back to Old Montreal along St Denis, there are lots of interesting shops, cafes and restaurants.....that could be a whole day........
Edit: BTW, Montreal is celebrating its 375th anniversary this year, so keep an eye out for special events around that......

To add to this list, Notre Dame Cathedral, Church of Mary, Queen of the World, St Joseph's Oratory.........more to come as it occurs to me.....

Is anyone else planning on heading to Montreal after the un-con besides me, Jamie and possibly Gaby?
I got my passport book in the mail yesterday. I had sent in my existing passport card and put in writing that I wanted the card returned, as they instructed me to do. Well, they didn't return my passport card, even though I paid for it and for the separate passport book (with no discount or pro rata price). I don't need both, but I paid for both. I guess it won't be worth the powder to try and get it back, as the book is more than sufficient to get me out of the country via plane.
Still looking for some deals on Air Canada. I am hoping that I will see the fares that were posted a month or two ago, as I am going to snag them when they show up!
96 days to go!

I found some great flights to/from Montreal with a total cost of about $230.00. That will work perfectly on the back end of the trip, but obviously if I flew into Montreal I would have to take the train to Quebec City. The train is $33.00.
Is everyone travelling on the 19th or 20th?
Is anyone thinking of flying into Montreal on the journey up? Flying into Quebec City is quite a bit more expensive, even when factoring in train fare.

That's a great price! You were right to wait. I fly into Quebec on September 19 and should be at the hotel no later than 2 pm.

Thanks for the heads up on flying into Montreal. I'll have to check on that. Unfortunately, September is not a great time for me to extend a trip as the semester is starting to get serious just then. Someday I'll be on Phizz's team and be able to stay as long as I like!

Been trying to get the word out here and Horatians Facebook page and Mags had a point. We are planning here and there and some don't have Facebook (or want it) and I can't copy and paste, so I will take a picture of the post, that way people can (if they want) put their two cents in. 😊

Just a heads up, if you fly into (or out of) Montreal and use the train to QC, P.E.Trudeau Airport is in Dorval, which is west of Montreal & the train goes from Central Station in Downtown Montreal (under the Queen Elizabeth Hotel), so you will have to make sure you build in some time to travel between the 2. There is no direct rail connection, but there is an Express bus, for $10 (cash). Here is the bus schedule: www.admtl.com/sites/default/files/747_Juin_2017_EN.pdf

Further to this, there is a shuttle bus from the airport to Dorval train station, and a commuter train to Central Station.......this route is a bit more expensive.....about $35 one way......
