Since we don't have an official schedule, some of us thought it might be useful to have a thread where we can post ideas for activities without having to search through 10 pages of information in the other thread. We can even start thinking about a tentative schedule depending on interest level and attendees travel schedules. As I get older I've become fond of hop on hop off sightseeing tours. Doesn't look like there is a huge selection, this one keeps popping up in a lot of my searches: Quebec City Hop-on Hop-off open top tours. I think the prices given in the site might be Canadian dollars. It might be worth doing just to get a feel for the whole city. We can pick to visit some of the attractions that are further away from where we are staying and use as transportation. How about a walking tour of Old Quebec City? I think if there is enough interest, we might want to book this ahead of time to make sure we have a guide for just our group. They take 15 people per guide, I think we have about that many people in our group? Some of the other things already mentioned in the main thread that people thought might be of interest: Saint-Louis Forts and Châteaux National Historic Site. There are a couple of additional links to things that could be of interest in the main page. La Citadelle de Quebec. Quebec City Historic Discoverers Cruise. Half-Day Trip to Montmorency Falls and Ste-Anne-de-Beaupré from Quebec. And for general planning: General information. And another one. So what do you guys think? I would love to be able to at least do the walking tour of Old Quebec City (supposed to be downhill), the cruise and the half day trip to Montmorency if possible, but I am game for anything. And I believe the cabingirls are leaving Sunday. Please feel free to add and do comment about what you would like to do.

I am up for any of the tours. I think we kind of need a framework of what we're doing, not necessary a set schedule, but I don't want to all be standing around deciding what to do each day. Just my thoughts.
I too love your suggestions Gaby. Is the Montmorency with fancy hotel with the high tea? My memory is fading.
Did someone (Pam?) mention something about a day trip to those falls?

Yes, a couple of the links were ones that Pam posted, the cruise and the half day trip. I agree we need a framework, otherwise we run the risk of having people who are arriving early do some of the stuff everyone wants to do and we'll end up splitting. I don't know which one was the hotel with the high tea. Hopefully other people will chip in.

The Chateau Frontenac is the hotel for High Tea. You can't miss it, it dominates the skyline. The Montmorency Falls are the water falls just outside the City in Beauport.

I ADORE hop on and hop off buses. I loved them even when my legs and feet didn't scream at me if I walked too much. I think you get such a nice overview of the city with them. Now, YES, we should do a walking tour or so (expect me tagging along in the back and please wait for me - I don't move fast anymore). I really want to do the high tea. I think that is a must! Pam said something about a boat ride. I saw a couple we can do that range in the price of around 36-38 dollars to up to 100 dollars. I thought we could do the cheaper of the bunch IF we could fit it in. The Citadel would be nice, as would an art museum or so. I am up for anything. The above are what I really would like. But, as always, majority rules.

I think the flying by the seat of your pants vacation doesn't work so well. We should organize it a wee bit better next year. Just my two cents. ::innocent looking emoji::

I'll be a little late for dinner on Wednesday evening (8:30-9pmish), but I do agree we need a plan. A cruise,(probably the 90 minute one), the tour to the Falls, the Citadel, a walking tour, and afternoon tea at Chateau Frontenac would be my choices. I'm guessing that the afternoon tea will be the hardest to schedule, so if we decide to do that we should take whatever we can get and then plan around it. The drive out of the city for the falls should be spectacular in mid-September. I'm counting on some exceptional foliage, Canada! I haven't been in the northeast to see the leaves turn color in 20 years. The citadel has the changing of the guard at 10 in the morning and also some living history at nightfall. Either or both sound great. I also plan to take full advantage of the indoor salt water pool at our hotel. :-) ETA: The nightfall tour of the citadel sounds fantastic! The English-language version is at 7:30 pm on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights. It lasts 90 minutes and costs $22. www.lacitadelle.qc.ca/en/activities/visit-at-nightfall.html If other people aren't as in to it, I can definitely go on Sunday evening, as I'm not leaving til Monday afternoon. They do have specific schedules for groups. I'll email in the morning and ask what it is for that weekend.

I believe the Changing of the Guard ceremony will be finished for the season (ends after Labour Day, I think), but the Citadel has lots to see.....I've never done the evening tour, so that would be fun on Friday or Saturday (I'm leaving Sunday....)

All the tours and site sound great.
The high tea is Tuesday to Saturday from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. We will probably have to call or e-mail since you can only reserve parties of up to 6 on line. Here is the availability. Maybe we need to bite the bullet and book this now since there are the only openings showing right now:
Thursday September 21 -- 2:00 or 2:15 Friday September 22 -- 2:00 or 2:15 Saturday September 23 -- 2:15 Sunday September 24 -- 1:00
I have an e-mail into their rep to see what the chances are of a large group doing high tea. Will report back.
ETA: I heard back from them. They definitely can accommodate us. We just have to designate one of those dates to get on their calendar. So I think of all activities, we need to decide which date to do this one now because (a) reservations are so limited and are only between 2:00 and 3:15 and (b) since it would be in the middle of the day, we should make the chosen day an "in town" or nearby activity (as opposed to going to the Falls or elsewhere via boat or bus). Also, I said a party of 13, is that correct? Thoughts peeps?

If we do the night time thing at the citadel, then I think that Friday or Saturday would be good. I just checked the cruises. They say up to 9 people, we have 15. They don't have two cruises at the same time.

I think some people will not arrive until Thursday. Liz, what time do you, LouLou and Minsky are arriving? And what activities are you up for? I know Susana and Dave are leaving Sunday
Based on Liz's arrival and interest we can start putting together a tentative schedule.

I've seen the City so many times that if I miss something, no big deal. I think LouLou was booking trains today & I am going to try to coordinate my travel with that. The main thing I would like to do is the Tea and night time Citadel tour, but the rest of the time I can wing it.......oh, and the archeological display by the Chateau is on my list.......

I agree we should book the afternoon tea ASAP.
With 15 of us, we can a get a private nightfall tour at the Citadel with a group rate. I think I understood correctly that they could do this any evening as long as we get it booked. It would be at 8:30 and lasts 90 minutes. I had forgotten that LouLou and Minsky are coming and just asked for an English-speaking guide. Should I tell them we'll need both? IDK what the group rate is, but the list price is $22 CD (about $17.50 USD), so it's a screamin' deal.
Obviously not everybody is reading this page every day; I have email addresses for everyone except Liz, LouLou, and Minsky. If somebody can scare up those, we can send out a group message.
