We had just started a thread on the Murdoch Mysteries on the old board, so some may be interested in this video of the cast at the Fan Expo in Toronto this past weekend. Cheers

Sorry to be so long in replying, Liz! Students returned to campus this week AND a major training seminar is going on PLUS one of the Ensign Corps of Nephews is in town to see if he wishes to attend Enormous State University. It's nice to be able to surface for air. I just watched Series 2. Wow, that got complicated fast; I'm not sure I like what they're doing with the Murdoch/Ogden storyline, but Constable Crabtree continues to delight. Sgt. Linney of the Northwest Mounted Police was fun too. Yannick Bisson and Dylan Neal did a great job with timing Murdoch and Linney's reactions. Also, this being The Bilge, we need nice things to look at. Murdoch on the job. Those eyes! Crabtree and Brackenreid. I haven't watched the video yet because my home wifi is not acting right--it might have melted from the Murdoch hotitude--and my work headphones seem to have walkabout. But soon!

That's right! I think my last post on the old board was about my crushing on earnest second-banana Crabtree. And I do love me some Brackenreid. One thing I said that I'll repeat: there was an live action/animated web series based on Crabtree's never-ending novel, Curse of the Lost Pharaohs. I would love to see it! but I cannot for the life of me find a working link, other than this trailer. Can anyone help me step into Crabtree's imagination? HMSCody

HMSCody I tried so hard to find that for you, but it seems that it's only the things which you would rather disappear that remain on the internet forever. The first 5 seasons were on CTV and then CBC picked it up after that. CTV seems to have eliminated all trace of Murdoch on their website and they sure as heck haven't given that content to CBC. Various websites that say they have it seem to have pirated it in the first place and been told to take it down.

Well, here is a "Making of" video for the animated series. The original batch were made for CityTV, but I just checked City's videos and they aren't there........both City and the CBC are replaying reruns for the summer, so I've been catching older ones on different channels across Canada, but all from different series. In one night Murdoch and Julia were courting, then Julia was gone, then Murdoch was in the Yukon, then Alberta, and on and on, so I am very confused........I ordered the box set of series 1-3, so I really should sit down and watch in order......(In the really dumb department, if you want to get the box set and you have a multi-regional DVD player, order the UK set.......it is a lot cheaper........) Just to forewarn you Sandra, the Fan Expo video is 49 minutes long, so you do have to lock yourself away........ Cheers

Sandra, thank you for trying to find that for me! I can't imagine that they'll keep it buried forever. It looks like Pharaohs was expensive to produce and a lot of fun -- it can't hurt to have that one back on the nets one day.
We got the series on Netflix and watched the episodes one after the other until they ran out. We are eagerly waiting for the next bunch to hit the disks.

I have an Amazon Prime subscription, and seasons 1-4 are included on the instant video feature. 5 & 6 are available, but for an additional charge. 5 & 6 also are available on the CBC site for free, but I haven't tried that yet. Not sure if it works on this side of the border. Watching in order does seem to be the thing to do. From the chatter on the IMDB message boards, the writers delight in yanking Murdoch and Ogden around. The relationship is on, off, on, SPOILER--highlight to read text---Julia moves to Buffalo and marries somebody else, but he hates her modern ideas and they separate and blah blah blah. It sounds a little exhausting to try to keep track of, but so far, I am charmed and looking forward to watching more.

Yes, a couple of the out of order episodes have covered the spoilers you mentioned.......and one of Murdoch's old loves comes back, against all advise....saw part one of that episode, so now I have to find the City channel on time shifting to catch the second part.....this is fun.....
Series 7 starts on the CBC 30 September......Hopely, it will appear in the US and UK shortly.....
Cheers

There's much more Murdoch fun to be had at their Facebook page, if you happen to partake of that world. Note to mods: perhaps this thread should move to the OT forum? The original Bilge stuff back on the previous host site was more specifically about the dreaminess of the gentlemen of the Toronto constabulary, but this one is getting to be more about the show itself. There's a couple of posts in the What are you watching thread that might be merged as well.

This being The Bilge, adoption wasn't exactly what I had in mind. I might could be willing to give the sister-wife experience a try....

The premiere episode for this season was partly filmed on the steamship Keewatin on Georgian Bay. Should be fun......no doubt Murdoch will get to explain how the steam engine works while investigating whatever poor sod got bumped off........ Here is the CBC's press release about the new season...... Cheers

I'm thrilled to see this series so celebrated. Usually, I love the stuff that gets cancelled. Not like anyone else on this board knows what that's like...
